    U. of I. kinesiology and community health professor Marni Boppart, chemical and biomolecular engineering professor Hyun Joon Kong and their colleagues discovered that injections of support cells known as pericytes can aid muscle regrowth after disuse atrophy. The study was conducted in mice.
