CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Steven Anderson, the director of the School of Social Work at Michigan State University, was named the dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign effective Sept. 16, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
“Professor Anderson will bring an outstanding combination of prioritization of students, administrative experience, academic record and vision to the School of Social Work deanship,” said John Wilkin, the interim vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost.
Anderson earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work at Illinois. He subsequently earned a master’s and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan.
He was an assistant professor and an associate professor of social work at Illinois from 1997 to 2010. Prior to his most recent position at Michigan State, he served as the director of the School of Social Work, College of Public Programs at Arizona State University.
Wynne Korr is departing as Social Work dean effective Sept. 15.
