  • Corporations directing our attention online more than we realize

Illinois media professor Harsh Taneja co-wrote a study that found numerous ways corporations “nudge” our attention on the internet.

Illinois media professor Harsh Taneja found that corporations “nudge” our attention and browsing behavior on the internet in numerous ways, often hidden or beyond our control. He and a co-author analyzed clickstream data on a million people over one month of internet use to see patterns in browsing behavior and how that linked with corporate ownership, partnerships, website design and other factors.
