Registration is now open for the 11th annual Boneyard Creek Community Day. The event, to be held Saturday, April 23, encourages the public to help protect local waterways through cleanup and educational activities.
Individuals of all ages may participate. Work sites vary from projects in the creek to those more suitable for children. Cleanup begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. After the cleanup activities, lunch will be served at Scott Park in Champaign, where there also will be music and interactive learning displays.
Last year, a record 500 volunteers participated in picking up 165 cubic yards of litter from an approximately 1,800-acre area. Additionally, invasive species were removed from a half mile of the Saline Branch area.
Registration and information is online.
