The seasonal flu shot is now available 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for free at McKinley Health Center to all U. of I. students who have paid the Health Service Fee and all benefits-eligible faculty and staff members, retirees and state employees. Check the McKinley website and its Flu Clinic Events Calendar for other locations on campus.
U. of I. students must present their i-card. U. of I. employees must present their i-card and their health insurance card from their university-sponsored health plan. Retirees should present proof of state health insurance and one other form of identification.
“Benefits eligible” is defined as a state or university employee receiving health benefits from the state on the basis of their employment and not as a dependent of another staff member. Any active or retired state employee who is enrolled in a state-sponsored health insurance plan is eligible.
The following individuals who are not eligible for a free flu shot may purchase the shot for $32 at McKinley Health Center: extra help, academic hourly, visiting scholar, part-time employees not participating in the health plan, spouses or partners, volunteers, contractual employees or employees who have opted out of the state insurance plan.
