CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Twenty Illinois students have been awarded scholarships for study at the University of Illinois for the 2000-01 academic year.
The scholarships are funded by UI alumni and designated by the university's Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
The recipients, their class level and the awards they received (EDITORS: See list.):
2000 Student Affairs Scholarship Recipients
ALTON -- Jennifer Howell, Charles Banks, sophomore; and Ellen Jourdain,sophomore. They received the Marshall W. and Ann E. Tudor Scholarship ($2,000, renewable for one year), a gift from Alton natives Marshall W. (UI class of 1957) and Ann E. Tudor, Mohtomedi, Minn.
CHAMPAIGN -- Tiffany Wallace,sophomore, Frank L. Stout Memorial Scholarship ($850), established by Phyllis C. and Frank M. Stout, Dewey.
CHESTER -- Jeanne Shaemonic, freshman, Leslie A. Ellis Scholarship ($900), a gift from Leslie A. Ellis to help students from Chester High School enrolled full-time at the UI.
COLUMBIA -- Anthony Gilbreth, sophomore, William E. Butler Scholarship ($3,000, renewable for a total of four years), a gift from Waterloo native William E. Butler (UI class of '57), Huntington Valley, Ohio.
ELKHART -- Casey Davis, freshman, Vera Zarow Scholarship ($850), a gift from Albert I. Zarow and his wife, Dorothy Broeg Zarow (UI class of '39) to benefit students from Mount Pulaski High School.
FINDLAY -- John Wright,sophomore, Randall and Marilynn Rhea Scholarship ($5,000, renewable for four years), a gift from Findlay natives Randall (UI class of '69) and Marilynn Rhea, Stone Mountain, Ga.
GODFREY -- Ryan Gilbreth,freshman, Marshall W. and Ann E. Tudor Scholarship ($2,000, renewable for one year), a gift from Alton natives Marshall W. (UI class of '57) and Ann E. Tudor, Mohtomedi, Minn.
MORO -- Jesse Albus, freshman, Charles T. Richards Scholarship ($2,000), a memorial gift from Marion T. Richards, Edwardsville, in honor of her husband Charles (UI class of '34).
PEORIA -- Alejandro Gomez, freshman; Laura Jaschob, 1009 E. Elmhurst Ave., sophomore; and Peter Falk,sophomore. They received the June Carroll-Manson Memorial Scholarship ($2,000, renewable for one year), a memorial scholarship from the family of June Carroll-Manson.
PLAINFIELD -- Wes McClain, freshman; Douglas Miller, sophomore; Sabrina Shiner, junior; and Chirag Shah, senior. They received the Susanne Lynne and David John Peterson Scholarship ($2,000, renewable for four years), a gift from Shirley Lindenbaum in memory of Susanne Lynne (UI class of '75) and David John Peterson (UI class of '80).
SMITHTON -- Lawrence Schaltenbrand, junior, William E. Butler Scholarship ($3,000, renewable for a total of four years), a gift from Waterloo native William E. Butler (UI class of '57), Huntington Valley, Ohio.
SULLIVAN -- Erica Keown, sophomore, Paul and Thelma Jones Stone Scholarship ($1,461), a gift from Paul (UI class of '42) and Thelma Jones Stone (UI class of '40), Sullivan.
WATERLOO -- Ashleigh Johnson, freshman, William E. Butler Scholarship ($3,000, renewable for a total of four years), a gift from Waterloo native William E. Butler (UI class of '57), Huntington Valley, Ohio.
