CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Edward C. Prescott, a professor of economics at the University of Minnesota, will deliver the David Kinley Lecture in Economics on the world of work at 3 p.m. Friday (March 14) at the University of Illinois College of Business, 141 Wohlers Hall, 1206 S. Sixth St., Champaign.
His lecture, "Why Do Americans Work So Much and Europeans So Little?," will discuss the differences in policy that account for different working and living standards among rich industrialized nations. A leading macroeconomist, Prescott has focused his recent research on the evolution of international income distribution.
He is a senior adviser to the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis and has written or co-written more than 80 journal articles and a book.
The Kinley lecture is sponsored by the department of economics and College of Business. It is free and open to the public.
