  • State politics, industry drive planetary health education for K-12 students in US

Lynette Strickland, Brian Allan and Samantha Capel

Entomology professor Brian F. Allan led a graduate course on planetary health that inspired several participants to conduct a study on state science learning standards for K-12 students and how topics such as climate change are shaded by state politics. Senior author Lynette Strickland, left, a biology professor at Boston University; and first author Samanta L.R. Capel, right, a conservation population genomicist with the Wildlife Genetics Research Laboratory in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, participated in the course.
