  • Many responders in emotional distress one year after hurricane in Puerto Rico, study finds

    Health care and social service workers who assisted victims of 2017’s Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico had significantly higher levels of mental health symptoms nearly a year after the disaster compared with their counterparts who assisted hurricane victims in Texas, according to a study by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign social work professor Tara Powell.
