Carolyn Margaret (Rexroat) Dodd, 80, of Homer, Illinois, died Sept. 5 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. She retired from the university’s School of Music after 36 years of service. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, with the Rev. Raymond Ides, 73, died Aug. 16 in Kentucky. He was a physical plant service worker for the university for many years. A memorial lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the American Legion Post 71, 107 Broadway Ave., Urbana.
David Kay, 79, of Urbana, died Sept. 2 in Urbana. He joined the department of English at the university in 1966. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. at Clark-Lindsey Village, Urbana. Frederick “Fred” E. Payne, 96, of Champaign, died Sept. 1 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He worked at the Assembly Hall, starting in 1964 as a gateman, later becoming gateman supervisor for 32 years. He also worked for the university’s Athletic Association ticket office, starting in 1978, for 13 years. He then worked for the Assembly Hall ticket office. Margaret R. Selin, 97, of Champaign, died Sept. 4 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. She was employed by the university, first by the Athletic Association as secretary to football coaches Ray Eliot and, upon his retirement, Pete Elliott. She was with the department of athletics from 1942 until 1967. She then served the university as secretary/administrative assistant to presidents David D. Henry, John E. Corbally and Stanley O. Joseph Tarbet Woolley, 95, of Hooper, Utah, died Sept. 6. He worked as a plant physiology research agronomist in a joint position with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the university’s department of agronomy for his entire career, from 1956 until his retirement in 1989.
