University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign researchers and instructors have the opportunity to learn about the information technology services that are available to them by attending the Faculty Technology Summit. The event will take place in Illini Union Rooms A, B, and C on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sponsored by Technology Services at Illinois, the summit will be of particular value to faculty and graduate students. However, all are welcome to this free event, and no registration is needed.
Participants will be able to meet with representatives from more than 20 IT services at Illinois. The event features presentations from faculty speakers who have successfully incorporated technology into their instruction or their research.
This year’s presenters include: Michel Bellini, a professor of cell and developmental biology and the director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning; Jodi Byrd, a professor of English and gender and women’s studies; William Patterson, a lecturer in the College of Engineering and a professor of African American studies; John Towns, the deputy chief information officer of research IT for Technology Services; José J. Vázquez, a professor of economics; and Joe Yun, a Ph.D. student in informatics and a leader on the social media analytics team for the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
The Technology Services Research IT team will have a consulting table where researchers can receive expert guidance on how available IT resources could be used to advance their research. More information about the speakers, as well as a list of campus services that will have tables at the summit, can be found at http://go.illinois.edu/fts.
