Two upcoming workshops organized by the Provost’s Office – one for pre-tenure faculty members and one for midcareer faculty members – will be May 5 at the I Hotel and Conference Center.
This year’s pre-tenure workshop, “Challenging Situations,” will run 9-11 a.m. Through guided small group conversations, challenges will be addressed, including time management, demanding students and cranky colleagues. Strategies to deal with these situations will be discussed, as well as evaluating the benefits and costs of different approaches.
The midcareer workshop, “Meeting the Media,” will run from 1-3 p.m. This workshop will provide practical advice for engaging the media about research, including an opportunity to practice on camera with support and personalized feedback from public affairs staff members.
