The department of French and Italian is hosting a free, live performance of Italian music at 5 p.m. March 17 in Illini Room B in the Illini Union.
The performers are pianist Elena Buttiero and Ferdinando Molteni, who plays folk guitar and sings. Buttiero is an international artist who has performed in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. Molteni is an Italian writer, journalist and musician who has lectured and performed throughout Europe and the U.S.
Their show, "Genoa and the Mediterranean," combines a theatrical piece with songs written by two of the most famous singer-songwriters of the 1960s in Italy: Fabrizio De Andrè and Luigi Tenco.
