John W. Andresen, 90, died Dec. 10 at Clark-Lindsey’s MeadowBrook Health Center, Urbana. He was a U. of I. visiting professor for the department of natural resources and environmental sciences from 1987 to 2006.
Gerald Brighton died Feb. 13. He was a U. of I. professor of accounting for 42 years, retiring in 1988 as professor emeritus. Memorials: Gerald D. and Lois R. Brighton Scholarship Fund at the U. of I. Foundation, the Wesley Foundation and the University YMCA.
Artha L. Chamberlain, 97, died Feb. 18 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. She began working at the U. of I. in 1946 and retired as a publications counsel in the U. of I. department of aeronautical and astronautical engineering in 1984. She then returned as a lecturer in the department of mechanical and industrial engineering from 1985-93.
Margaret Ann Harsacky, 93, died Feb. 14. She worked as a junior clerk stenographer in the U. of I. Bursar’s Office from 1942-47.
Martin Donald Ignazito, 77, died Feb. 3. He was the U. of I.’s chief engineer of operations and maintenance for 11 years, retiring in 1999. Memorial: Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Plessa Edward Mast, 89, died Feb. 19. He was a U. of I. professor of electrical and computer engineering for 35 years, retiring in 1987 as professor emeritus. Frederick A. Rodgers, 77, died Feb. 16 in Winter Springs, Florida. He was a U. of I. professor of education administration for 28 years, retiring in 1998 and receiving professor emeritus status in 2000. Joseph T. Verdeyen, 83, died Feb. 16 at his home. He was a U. of I. professor of electrical and computer engineering for 36 years, retiring in 1994 as professor emeritus. A visitation for Frances Jo Freeman Crawford will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at University Place Christian Church, 403 S. Wright St., Champaign. Crawford, 82, died Feb. 19 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. She was a professor of voice at the U. of I. School of Music for 33 years, retiring in 2000 as professor emerita. She continued to teach and advise students until 2002.
