The Emmy and Latin Grammy Award-winning family entertainment of Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band has been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” Sprout TV’s “Sunny Side Up Show,” in commercials for Coca-Cola and in the original PBS TV show “Lishy Lou and Lucky Too!” The Washington Post has hailed them as “The face of kindie music” and their five acclaimed albums have soared to the top of numerous “best” lists.
On Feb. 13, they arrive at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts amid a tour of sold-out shows. They will perform a free concert at 10 a.m. in Krannert Center’s expansive lobby, offering a relaxed and upbeat atmosphere for a get-up-and-dance set helmed by husband-and-wife duo Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis. Crowned “the Rolling Stones of kids music” by the Style Network, the band’s pop-rock infused music and range of hits – including “¡Fantastico!,” “Thingamajig,” “Piñata Attack” and “Blue Bear” – provide a delightful mixture of dual-language music with a magnetic appeal.
The I.D.E.A. Store also will be on hand along with other volunteer partners to lead guests in creating Valentine’s Day-themed crafts starting at 9 a.m. in the lobby. Intermezzo cafe, located at the north side of the center’s lobby, will open at 9 a.m. with bagels, pastries, light lunch options, and hot and cold drinks available for purchase. As always, the center offers free weekend parking in the four underground parking garages, with entrances on Illinois and Oregon streets.
