The Illini Union’s Office of Volunteer Programs will host its annual Holiday Toy Drive through Dec. 9, with a goal of collecting 1,000 presents.
Participants are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys, books or gift cards for newborns to 18 years old that are no more than $15 in value. An information sheet with a list of donation suggestions is posted online. At the conclusion of the drive, toys will be distributed to Salt and Light Ministries in Champaign County.
“The Holiday Toy Drive gives an opportunity for members of campus to give back to the local community. The toys will be going to local children who otherwise may not get presents this holiday season,” said John Race, OVP program advisor.
Gifts can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Office of Volunteer Programs, in Illini Union Room 288. Additional drop-off locations are listed online.
