Reid Alexander, 66, died Nov. 18 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. Alexander joined the School of Music as an assistant professor in 1979. He was promoted to associate professor with indefinite tenure in 1985 and to the rank of professor in 1992. He served as chair of the Piano Pedagogy division for many years.
Daniel Alpert, 98, died Nov. 4 in Eugene, Oregon. He was a professor of physics at the U. of I. for 30 years, also serving as the director of the Coordinated Science Laboratory, the dean of the Graduate College and the director of the Center for Advanced Studies. Kerry W. Cousins, 61, died Nov. 19 at her Champaign home. She worked at McKinley Health Center for 28 years, retiring in 2009 as a clerical assistant. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61802.
Donald Richard Deschene, 84, died Nov. 17 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville. He worked at the U. of I. for 28 years, retiring in 1983 as an electronic technician II for the department of mechanical and industrial engineering.
Jody Michelle Endres, 45, died Nov. 18. Endres joined the Energy Biosciences Institute in 2008, and joined the department of natural resources and environmental sciences in 2012 as an assistant professor, where she taught courses related to renewable energy and natural resources law. Harold Warren Fry, 88, died Nov. 14 at his home in Joppa, Illinois. He was an ironworker at the Physical Plant for 28 years, retiring in 1990.
Dorothy A. Vinton, 81, died Nov. 17 at her Champaign home. She worked for library general services for seven years, retiring in 2002 as a library clerk III.
A memorial service for Lamar Arttise Adams will be Nov. 28 at the Church of the Apostolic of Authority, 400 W. Bradley Ave., Champaign. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with services following at noon. Final interment will immediately follow services at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Urbana. Adams had been a building service worker for Facilities and Services since 2013. Prior to that, he had been a grounds worker as an extra help employee since 2005.
