The Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology will sponsor two upcoming Chambana Science Café events.
Gretchen Adams, the director of Undergraduate Studies for the department of chemistry, will present "Outreach and Mentoring: Bringing Science to Young People" at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4.
Dipti Nayak, a Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology Fellow, will present "Living Foods: The Microbiology of Food and Drink" at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 2.
Both speakers will present in the back dining room of Pizza-M, 208 W. Main St., Urbana. Free pizza will be provided while it lasts.
Science cafés are informal gatherings that bring scientists out of their labs to public areas to talk about their work and answer questions. The talks are free and open to the public. They occur the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Pizza-M. More information can be found on the Chambana Science Café Facebook page.
