Technology Services recently implemented a new password system that will save faculty and staff members and students time by not having to maintain multiple passwords. It also will be easier to reset a password if the user forgets it.
Faculty and staff members and students will no longer have to maintain separate passwords for their NetID and EnterpriseID. The next time they change either password, the new password system will synchronize their credentials so they have one ID and one password.
In addition, instead of having to remember security questions for when they forget their password, faculty, staff and students can have a password reset code sent to a secondary email address or sent to their phone as either a text message or an audio message. These are the types of easy to use password reset options that most websites and services offer to reset passwords.
UIS already is using the new password system, and UIC will move to the new system next year. Once all three campuses are using the same password system, it will make it much easier for faculty, staff and students who operate on multiple campuses.
