  • ‘CETACEAN’ performance shows connections between whales’ environment and humans

“CETACEAN (The Whale)” is the latest performance by artists Deke Weaver and Jennifer Allen in “The Unreliable Bestiary” project, described as “an ark of stories about animals, our relationships with them and the worlds they inhabit.” During a rehearsal of the choreography with giant whale puppets, Weaver, center, a U. of I. art professor, works with the performers on the timing of a dramatic scene in which a whale mother and baby come under attack.
