The website also has a section with answers to common questions. For example, smokers will not be allowed to smoke in personal vehicles on campus, electronic cigarettes are not allowed, and tobacco used in pre-approved native rituals is excluded from the initiative.
The campus will expand its cessation resources offered to students and employees. In the meantime, employees may sign up for the free Illinois Tobacco Quitline or receive a kit through the center.
Guerra also said there will be training for supervisors navigating employee smoking issues.
"We know quitting smoking isn't an easy thing to do," she said. "We are committed to implementing this policy in as gentle a way as possible. The vast majority of feedback we've gotten so far, even from smokers, has been supportive."
