Employees urged to review benefit options carefully; make changes online by May 31
Based on current information from the state department of Central Management Services, U. of I. employees will pay more in employee and dependent health insurance premiums, out-of-pocket maximums, copayments, deductibles, co-insurance and other health care costs, beginning July. The deductible for the dental plan and copays for the vision plan also have increased.
A flier with more detailed information on changes and deadlines was mailed to the home address of all benefits-eligible employees. It includes a list of changes in copays and other expenses for the managed-care health plans and the Quality Care Health Plan. Employees are being encouraged to carefully review this information before making any decisions regarding health care choices since there are significant increases.
Changes to health care and other benefits - including medical care and dependent care assistance (flexible spending) plans - can only be made during the Benefit Choice period, which runs through May 31. All changes will be effective July 1.
Benefit Choice information is available online, including detailed information about the benefit changes; online enrollment information (do not use the forms on the CMS website); flexible spending forms, instructions and reference guide; and the Benefit Choice Options booklet.
Note that claims processing for FSA plans will be done through the WageWorks system, not FBMC, which processed claims last year. All MCAP participants will receive a new WageWorks health care debit card. The current myFBMC card will continue to work through June 30.
To learn more about this year's Benefit Choice options, employees are encouraged to attend the Benefit Fair on May 14 and to sign up for one of four Benefit Choice Information Sessions.
