CHAMPAIGN, Ill. Two graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have received scholarships from the Ford Motor Co./Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corp. Scholars Program.
Sulema Aranda of Cicero, whos studying electrical engineering, and Fernando Diaz of Chicago, whos studying general engineering, will each receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Recipients are selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship and campus/community service.
Twelve students will be honored at the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corp. 2002 conference in South Padre Island, Texas, on Oct. 19.
The mission of organization is to seek out, recognize, honor and document Hispanic excellence in science, engineering and technology nationwide.
