CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Edward Hamberger, the president and CEO of the Association of American Railroads, will be the keynote speaker at the University of Illinois Railroad Environmental Conference at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 9 (Wednesday) at 314 Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana.
The conference features three days of technical sessions and papers by industry officials and Illinois engineering professors on such issues as railroad pollution emissions, hazardous material transportation, ground storage tank regulations and high-speed train vibration.
The sessions will start Oct. 8 (Tuesday) at 8 a.m. with welcoming remarks by Christopher P.L. Barkan, the director of the campus railroad engineering program, and Nicolas P. Jones, the head of the department of civil and environmental engineering.
