CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Lynette L. Marshall has been appointed vice president of the University of Illinois Foundation and associate chancellor for development for the Urbana-Champaign campus, pending approval by the U. of I. Board of Trustees at its June 17 meeting in Chicago. The dual appointment is effective July 1.
Marshall has served as assistant chancellor for development in the campus Office of Development since 2002. Prior to that, she was director of resource development for more than 12 years and associate dean for advancement for seven years, both in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
"The leadership of the foundation and university consider the top development position at Urbana-Champaign to be one of the best in public higher education," said Richard H. Herman, interim chancellor. "The challenges and opportunities are significant. We are confident that Lynette Marshall has the qualities and qualifications for enhancing the private support opportunities available to the campus and to donors in fulfilling our educational missions."
Foundation President Sidney S. Micek added: "We have received many endorsements of Lynette's selection to this leadership position from university and campus administrators, foundation board members and volunteers as well as fund-raising consultants. Lynette brings a wealth of experience and a special dimension to this extremely important role and to the growing significance of private support to the Urbana-Champaign campus."
Marshall earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural science in 1983 and a master's in educational policy studies in 2000, both from Illinois. She succeeds Richard F. Wilson, who resigned to become president of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
