CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Trans States Airlines, which does business as American Connection, is suspending service at the University of Illinois Willard Airport as of Nov. 1.
Trans States provides twice-a-day service between Champaign and St Louis.
Trans States has been a long-time partner at Willard Airport, initially providing service as Trans World Express since at least 1989, said Steve Wanzek, manager of Willard.
"Most travelers will be minimally affected, as the destinations served through St Louis are conveniently available using Willard's remaining direct-flight hubs: Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas and Detroit," Wanzek said.
Dan Purtle, manager of System Station Services for Trans States Airlines, said, "We regret this action has become necessary, and would like to thank the Authority for its support during our time at Champaign."
