CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The annual concert on the University of Illinois campus commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States will move back to its original venue this year.
The brief memorial event, free and open to the public, will take place on Sept. 11 in the recital hall of Smith Hall, 805 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana.
The concert's 7:46 a.m. start time coincides with the time the first hijacked jetliner crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
The U. of I.'s Black Chorus, conducted by music professor Ollie Watts Davis, will perform.
As in past years, the observance will rely solely on the universal language of music.
"There will be no speeches before or after the performance," said Karl Kramer, the director of the School of Music.
