CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Faculty members and students of the neuroscience program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign want children and their families to join them to learn about "Brains in Action" from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., May 24, at the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum, 356 N. Neil St., Champaign.

Admission to the entire museum will be free all day.

An afternoon full of fun activities, featuring a variety of exhibits, hands-on displays and a children’s art contest, will await young visitors to the museum, said Donna Korol, a professor of psychology and faculty member in the neuroscience program.

"Brains in Action" is a community outreach effort of the university’s neuroscience program and an offshoot of national Brain Awareness Week, which was held in March this year.

Neuroscience is the study of the brain and nervous system. At Illinois, the multi-departmental neuroscience program focuses on all aspects of brain research, providing graduate-level training for both teaching and research.
