Workshops to focus on improving energy efficiency in buildings

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Smart Energy Design Assistance Center, administered through the University of Illinois School of Architecture, will present seven workshops around the state to teach facilities managers, construction contractors and consultants how to achieve energy efficiency in new construction or existing buildings.

SEDAC engineers and architects will lead the half-day workshops, and representatives from the regulated electrical and gas utilities and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will provide information about current incentive programs.

SEDAC workshops are aimed at public and private sector building owners, managers and contractors.

The workshops:

• Oct. 14 (Friday), 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Chicago Southland Economic Development Corp., East Hazel Crest.

• Oct. 21 (Friday), 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., U. of I. Illini Center, Chicago

• Oct. 26 (Wednesday), 8:30 a.m. to noon, Peoria NEXT Innovation Center, Bradley University, Peoria

• Nov. 4 (Friday), 8:30 a.m. to noon, College of Lake County, Grayslake

• Nov. 9 (Wednesday) from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Southwestern Illinois College, Belleville

• Nov. 18 (Friday), 8:30 a.m. to noon, U. of I. Business Innovations Service center, Naperville

• Dec. 1 (Thursday), 8:30 a.m. to noon, Rockford Airport Auditorium
