Willard Airport switches to a new parking system

A new, automated system that allows flyers to pay for parking with credit cards has replaced the parking booth at the University of Illinois Willard Airport. Customers who wish to pay with cash may pay for parking inside the terminal.

“The new parking system will make parking at Willard Airport much more convenient and easier for those who fly Champaign-Urbana,” said Gene Cossey, the executive director of Willard Airport. “This system replaces aging equipment and will make your exit from the parking lot faster than ever.”

The maximum daily parking rate is $7, with a discounted weekly rate of $35. Frequent travelers still have the option of purchasing discount parking passes, including a one-year pass for $325.

“Willard Airport is a self-sufficient department of the University of Illinois and currently operates with no local tax dollars. The revenue from the parking lot is vital for continuing to provide service to everyone in the Champaign-Urbana community,” Cossey said.
