University YMCA seeks volunteers, donations for annual community recycling event

The University YMCA seeks volunteers to collect, sort and pack donations for its annual Dump and Run recycling sale in August. The program has been a completely volunteer-run program since its inception 15 years ago.

To volunteer, visit universityymca.org/dump_and_run/volunteer/. Volunteers who work at least six hours get first choice of the items collected. Volunteer opportunities run through May 24.  Volunteers are especially needed during peak collections activities on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. Volunteer drivers to pick up and drop off donations are also needed.

Community and campus members are urged to donate gently used, accepted items at the University YMCA, 1001 S. Wright St., Champaign, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until May 12. Collections will be open until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11. Collection days continue May 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
