CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduate student has won a 2005-2006 Paul D. Doolen graduate scholarship for the study of aging. She will receive $4,000 to continue research in the field of gerontology.

Linda Hasadsri of Urbana, winner of the Doolen award in biological-biomedical sciences, is pursing a medical degree from the U. of I. College of Medicine and her doctorate in cell and structural biology at the Urbana campus. Her research will develop a novel immunotherapy for potential treatment of Parkinson’s disease. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biological anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and her master’s degree in genetic counseling from California State University at Northridge.

The Doolen Scholarship is awarded annually to graduate students in their second year of study or beyond whose principal scholarly interest is in the field of aging. The scholarship was established in 1986 by an endowment from the Retirement Research Foundation, Oak Park, Ill., to honor the late Paul D.
