Roy H. Campbell, a professor of computer science, will serve a one-year term as the Senate Executive Committee chairman following an online election held April 16-19.
Campbell will replace current chair Matthew B. Wheeler, a professor of animal sciences, for the 2013-14 academic year.
Kim C. Graber, a professor of kinesiology and community health, was elected to the SEC’s vice chair position.
Senators also voted online for faculty member and student membership on the Urbana Academic Senate’s Committee on Committees.
Faculty members selected are Sara R. Benson, a lecturer in the College of Law; William D. Gropp, a professor of computer science; and Prasanta Kalita, a professor of agricultural and biological engineering.
Students picked to serve on the committee: Anthony Fiorentino, law; Shao-Hai Guo, agricultural and consumer economics; and Rachel Heller, general studies.
At the April 22 SEC meeting, Wheeler was picked to serve as the USC representative to the SEC. Three new USC members elected: Kalita; William J. Maher, a professor of library administration and the university archivist; and Gay Miller, a professor of pathobiology.
The new SEC committee members: Michel Bellini, a professor of cell and developmental biology and the chair of the Public Engagement and Institutional Advancement Committee; Patricia A. Gill, a professor of communication and the chair of the Student Discipline Committee; and Harry H. Hilton, a senior research scientist for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the chair of the Equal Opportunity and Inclusion Committee.
Three student SEC members have been announced since the meeting: Damani Bolden, agricultural and consumer economics; Guo; and Calvin Lear, materials science and engineering.
