Quad lights celebrate Hindu festival

Lighting the way

The Indian Graduate Students Association sponsored Diwali on the Quad on Nov. 13 as the kickoff for the celebration of the traditional Hindu “festival of lights.” During the five nights of Diwali, which symbolizes light’s defeat of darkness, celebrants dress in traditional Indian clothing, offer prayers, exchange gifts and food, create special art and celebrate hospitality. Diwali-themed meals were offered at campus residence halls on Nov. 11.
