Paul Hixson to become interim chief information officer at Urbana campus

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Paul Hixson has been named interim chief information officer for the Urbana campus of the University of Illinois.

Hixson, who retired in August 2010 as assistant dean and director of information technology and communication services for the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, will fill the position held by Sally Jackson, who resigned in April. Jackson had held the position since May 2007. She is a professor of communication and an associate provost.

Hixson’s appointment, effective July 1, will run for at least a year, in part so that he can oversee the campus’s transition to a unified communications system.

Hixson was selected by Richard Wheeler, interim vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost, and Michael Hites, executive chief information officer.
