Paintings by UI graduate students to be featured at I space

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The work of eight University of Illinois graduate-student painters will be featured in a show March 13-17 at I space, the Chicago gallery of the UI at Urbana-Champaign.

“Today: In 8 Parts” is a reprise of a show originally exhibited at the Urbana campuss Link Gallery. “Because it is such an outstanding show, we decided to take it on the road,” said Sarah Krepp, a professor in UIs School of Art and Design.

Various forms of painting from oil on canvas to collage elements on canvas to mixed media assemblages are represented in the exhibition.

The student artists, all of whom are working on a master of fine arts degree, are Scott Anderson, Anna Callahan, Sang-ah Choi, Kip Deeds, Joe Ford, Robert Horvath, Kariann Fuqua and Orion Wertz.

A reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. March 16. I space gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
