The Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees invites all departments and units to identify and nominate individuals who have made substantial contributions to their respective academic disciplines for an honorary degree award. Information regarding the nomination procedure and criteria for honorary degree award nominations can be found online.
Nominees should have made a distinguished contribution to knowledge and creativity in the relevant field of endeavor, or have shown sustained activity of uncommon merit. A list of honorary degrees previously awarded is online.
Nominators should compile their nominations over the summer and submit them for consideration by the committee early in the fall semester for the 2018 commencement ceremony.
