Board to hear report on Chief Illiniwek Nov. 8

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Louis Garippo, a former circuit judge in Cook County, will present his report on Chief Illiniwek to the Board of Trustees beginning at 1:30 p.m. during the regular board meeting Wednesday (Nov. 8) in Urbana.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be in Foellinger Auditorium, 709 S. Mathews Ave.

Garippo's report is expected to last 30 to 45 minutes. After Garippo finishes, there will be a 10- to 15-minute break to allow time for anyone in the audience to submit a question in writing.

After the break, he will address questions raised by board members as well as those submitted in writing. Following the question-and-answer session, the board will recess.

UI-7, the university cable TV service, will broadcast the meeting live beginning at 1:30 p.m; the WILL Web site ( will provide live audio. WILL-AM (580) will broadcast a recording of the meeting Wednesday from 8 to10 p.m.
