Research interests: His research focuses on academic publishing trends, especially the intersection of dynamic developments in practice around filtering, access, amplification and preservation, as well as rights, permissions and fair-use, currently evolving in the 21st century networked information landscape.
“Aaron McCollough will lead the library’s emergent scholarly communication and publishing activities as the head of scholarly communications and publishing,” said John P. Wilkin, the dean of libraries and the U. of I. librarian. “He brings a wealth of experience with innovative library-based publishing models, including large-scale digital projects such as the Text Creation Partnership and collaboration with faculty in new models of scholarly communication.”
Why Illinois? “I chose to come to Illinois because it has one of the richest library collections in the world and a remarkable research tradition among library faculty,” McCollough said. “Illinois has long been one of the most important research centers for information science and digital scholarship, and I am thrilled to be able to enter that stream.”
