Media Advisory: Home page yields to 150-year-old humor

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois.edu, the home page for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will have a different look for a few hours. In honor of the campus’s 150th birthday and leveraging the playful tendencies associated with April Fools’ Day, an alternative version of the website – featuring themes that perhaps were relevant in 1867 – will be live from midnight today through noon Saturday.

Users seeking the site’s full collection of information and resources will be able to follow a redirect to the permanent site throughout Saturday morning.

Editor’s note: Founded in 1867 as a land grant institution, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is both celebrating 150 years of transformative experiences and heralding an ambitious vision for the future through learning, discovery and public engagement. More information on our sesquicentennial milestones and festivities is available at http://150.illinois.edu/.
