Media advisory: Day of Service events planned for April 14

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Hundreds of volunteers for the sixth annual Community and Campus Day of Service on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus will gather Saturday, April 14, at Memorial Stadium to package 151,000 ready-to-boil meals that will be delivered to local foodbanks and food pantries. Ultimately, the meals will feed families in need throughout eastern Illinois.

The target number represents 1,000 meals for each year since the University of Illinois was chartered.

News reporters interested in covering the meal packaging event are encouraged to enter Memorial Stadium between 10 a.m. and noon through Gate 6 or Gate 8 and ask for Trey Price, visiting special project liaison to the chancellor, who also may be reached at (607) 259-7945.

More information on the project is available at https://dayofservice.cuvolunteer.org/
