The magazine ranked Illinois No. 9 among public universities and No. 39 nationally among all universities. Both rankings are one spot above last year’s rankings.

The magazine also rated the undergraduate programs in colleges of Business and Engineering, as well as specialties within those disciplines. The UI business school tied for No. 13; engineering was ranked fifth.

The UI’s agricultural engineering program ranked first nationally. Within the business school, accounting ranked No. 2 nationally, as did civil engineering within the engineering college. Also ranked second nationally were electrical/electronic/communications; and materials (both within engineering). Insurance/risk management (business) and computer engineering, and environmental/environmental health (both within engineering) ranked third nationally.
