The donation period for the first year of the university's Shared Benefits Program concluded the end of December. Six hundred fifty staff employees donated a total of 1,090 days of sick leave credit, and 662 faculty and academic professional employees donated a total of 1,826 days. Any employee who donated sick leave credit under the Shared Benefits Program and who has exhausted his or her accumulated sick leave is now eligible to request up to 45 days of sick leave credit or one-third of the pool balance, whichever is less, when experiencing a catastrophic illness or injury or when a disability claim is pending before the State Universities Retirement System. The next donation period for staff employees will be April 15 through June 1. Staff members with questions should contact Judy Barker, records and computer applications manager, at 333-2144. The next donation period for faculty members and academic professionals will be announced at a later date. Academic employees with questions should contact Constance Caveny, associate director for academic staff affairs, at 333-6747.
