Hauser was appointed interim dean of the college in August 2009, and was asked in spring 2010 to serve as dean. He also will continue in his role as associate provost of Extension.

“I am grateful to Bob for his willingness to continue to lead the college for another two years, which will round out his term as dean,” said Ilesanmi Adesida, the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “Bob is committed to ensuring that ACES is a top-ranked agricultural college in the nation.”

Hauser earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business in 1976 and his Ph.D. in agricultural economics in 1982 – both from Iowa State University. Hauser joined the U. of I. faculty in 1982 with a research and teaching focus on grain transportation, the use and pricing of options and futures, and the effects of economic and policy changes on Illinois and U.S. agriculture. He was appointed the Clearing Corporation Foundation Professor in the department of agricultural and consumer economics in June 2009, and held that position until December 2011. Hauser served as head of the department from 1995 to 2001, and again from 2004 to 2009.
