CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Tamara Fuller has been appointed director of the Children and Family Research Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Fuller, a national expert in child maltreatment assessment, has led many of the organization’s initiatives, including the Child Endangerment Risk Assessment Protocol, an assessment tool that examines various criteria to help the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services caseworkers determine whether a child may be unsafe in their home environment. She was recently awarded a research grant by the National Quality Improvement Center on Differential Response in Child Protective Services.

The Children and Family Research Center is an independent research organization affiliated with the School of Social Work at the University of Illinois and the DCFS. Created in 1996, the center is dedicated to supporting and conducting research that ensures the safety and welfare of Illinois children.

Fuller, who earned her doctorate in clinical-community psychology from Illinois in 2000, joined the UI as a research specialist at the center in 1997, and was named associate director of the center in 2003. She replaces Mark Testa, who served as director of the Center since 2002.
