First day of classes follows Monday schedule

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. Because of campus policy and changes in the campus calendar, the first day of class Wednesday, Aug. 22 will be treated as if it were a Monday.

Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 23, classes will meet as scheduled in the Timetable of Classes.

UIUC Senate Policy requires all class days to meet a minimum of 14 times during a semester. The Labor Day holiday, along with the addition of a full week fall break, reduces the number of Monday class meeting days to 13, necessitating the schedule change.
