First day of class to be treated like a Monday

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Because of campus policy and changes in the campus calendar, the first day of class — Wednesday, Aug. 24 — will be treated as if it were a Monday.

Students who normally have classes on Monday should attend them on the 24th. Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 24, classes will be meet as scheduled in the Timetable of Classes.

Campus Senate policy requires all classes to meet a minimum of 14 times during a semester. This year’s Labor Day holiday, along with the addition of a full-week fall break, reduces the number of Monday class meetings to 13, which forced the scheduling change.
