Executive MBA Program marks 25th anniversary with e-commerce symposium

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The impact and possibilities of e-commerce in everyday business are among the themes of the 25th anniversary symposium of the University of Illinois Executive MBA Program.

The symposium, which will be held Friday (May 5), is titled “E-Magic on Main Street” and will feature a keynote speech by Richard Frank, former chairman of Walt Disney Television and Telecommunications, who currently is chairman, president and CEO of Food.com. “Disney to Dinnertime: Thinking Differently About the Internet,” a tour of future virtual eateries, will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Radisson Suite Hotel, 101 Trade Centre Drive, Champaign.

Following the speech, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., Frank and other symposium participants will answer questions from the media. They include Waverly Deutsch, an executive vice president of fob.com, a marketing and strategy provider; Jeffrey Olin, an expert in software applications for global tax planning; and Jay P. Kesan, a UI professor of law and electrical engineering who has written widely on Internet law and regulation.

Opening remarks will be offered by Howard Thomas, the dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration.

The Illinois Executive MBA Program allows working middle managers to complete an MBA degree in two years by attending intensive summer sessions and a full day of classes once a week during the academic year. More than 900 managers have graduated from the executive MBA program since 1975. The program operates on the UI campus in Champaign and at the Illini Center in downtown Chicago.
