CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The European Union’s ambassador to the U.S., David O’Sullivan, will discuss Europe’s refugee crisis, the U.K. Brexit process, the EU’s response to the new U.S. administration and other topics in a March 15 speech at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

O’Sullivan’s “State of the European Union” address, at 10 a.m. in the ballroom at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center, 601 S. Lincoln

Ave., Urbana, is the central event of the 15th annual EU Day on the Illinois campus.

The speech will be followed with a reception. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Treaty of Rome is one of two significant anniversaries being celebrated this year.

EU Day, hosted by the European Union Center at the U. of I., provides an opportunity for participants to learn about the EU, its relationship with the U.S. and its role in promoting international relations.

This year’s EU Day has added significance due to two milestones in trans-Atlantic relations and European integration: the 70th anniversary of the Marshall Plan, a U.S. aid plan which assisted in Europe’s recovery after World War II; and the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the accord that laid the foundation for what would become the European Union.

Experiencing the intersection of art, architecture at Krannert Art Museum

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — As an art student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, I love how different forms of art weave together.
