Einstein Bros. Bagels opens at Siebel Center and Vet Med

Einstein Bros. Bagels has opened two more campus locations: in the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science and the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Basic Sciences Building.

Einstein’s two existing Urbana locations are in the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., and at 901 W. University Ave.

“The new Einstein Bros. Bagels locations in Siebel Center and Veterinary Medicine provide accessible and healthy food options,” said Lori Holmes, manager of vendor contracts. “Students studying in these locations for extended periods of time may now choose from a great selection without having to leave their studies. Einstein Bros. Bagels is extremely popular with the students at the University of Illinois. The menu variety allows for the premium portability of simple snacks as well as complete meals, which are perfect for today’s on-the-go student.”

Einstein Bros. Bagels will offer a variety of tea, coffee, fresh-made sandwiches, soups, salads, yogurt parfaits and other items.

The Siebel Center is located at 201 N. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. Einstein Bros. Bagels hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Veterinary Medicine Basic Sciences Building is at 2001 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana. Einstein Bros. Bagels hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Researchers develop a five-minute quality test for sustainable cement industry materials

A new test developed at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign can predict the performance of a new type of cementitious construction material in five minutes — a significant improvement over the current industry standard method, which takes seven or more days to complete. This development is poised to advance the use of next-generation resources called supplementary cementitious materials — or SCMs — by speeding up the quality-check process before leaving the production floor.
